It's Turkey Day!

The day we've been waiting for has finally arrived! You know, the day we stuff ourselves & make ourselves miserable. ;) I love the family time associated with Thanksgiving. Sitting around, preparing food, talking & playing games.

This year is my moms year to host. She has catered from a local catering company because she hates cooking. I get to prepare the feast for Christmas & I've already got tons of recipes bookmarked!

So before we get all crazy in a food coma, I listened to The Angriest Trainer's podcast NSNG 101 Holiday Eating . Some of the key takeaways [in my words]:

  • Don't pick at the appetizers. They aren't worth it. If you are going to pick at something, choose the nuts.
  • Choose your splurge ahead of time. Sweet Potatoes with marshmallow toppings are a dessert. So if that's what you choose, then don't even look at the pie.
  • This is one meal of the year. It's not what you eat from Thanksgiving to New Years; it's what you eat from New Years to Thanksgiving.

When I cook, we generally have a health-ified Holiday meal, but a lot of times--we aren't the hosts & we don't choose the food. What we can do is make the best choices for ourselves & eat what makes us feel good.

Another tip, don't skimp on the workouts! I purposefully made Thursday my rest day--but I've got a full schedule the following days!

Friday & Saturday- Barre 3
Sunday- Hot Yoga

So--I hope everyone enjoys the holiday & remembers what they are thankful for! I will post a recap of our spread later. :)

Happy Thaksgiving!
